Tournaments, tours & leagues worldwide

The International Padel Federation (FIP) is the world governing body of padel: it sets the rules, maintains the world rankings, organizes national team competitions and, together with Qatar Sports Investments, runs the professional tour Premier Padel. Around 100 national federations are members — in Germany, the German Padel Federation (DPV).

Premier Padel has been the single major professional tour since 2024: the former World Padel Tour (2013–2023) was fully absorbed into Premier Padel after the takeover by Qatar Sports Investments. Tournaments are played at several tiers — the higher the tier, the more world ranking points and prize money:

The 2026 season comprises around 25 tournaments in 18 countries across five continents. Of special note for Germany: the Germany Premier Padel P2 in Düsseldorf (October 2026). Play is single elimination, best of 3 sets, doubles only — with the Star Point rule since 2026.

Below Premier Padel sits the CUPRA FIP Tour — the FIP’s worldwide development circuit with the categories Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. This is where up-and-coming players collect the ranking points they need to qualify for Premier Padel tournaments. In 2026 the tour comprises over 200 tournaments in 78 countries; for young talent there is also the FIP Promises.

• FIP World Cup (world championship): every two years, 16 men’s and 16 women’s national teams. The 2026 edition takes place in Doha in November (record prize money of €1.2 million, split equally). Record winners: Argentina (men) and Spain (women).
• FIP Euro Padel Cup (European championship): a record 66 national teams took part in 2025; final round of the best 8 nations.

• The FIP Ranking counts the best 22 results from the last 52 weeks across Premier Padel and the CUPRA FIP Tour. Points expire after one year and have to be "defended".
• The Race Ranking counts only the current calendar year: the 16 best pairs per gender qualify for the Finals in Barcelona.
• Tournament entry is allocated via the combined ranking of both partners — the best pairs go straight into the main draw, followed by qualifying and wildcards.

In Germany, league play is organized by the German Padel Federation (DPV) — 2026 marks the 7th season, with over 500 teams and more than 3,000 active players (2025).

• Four nationwide tiers: 1. Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga, Regionalliga (regional league) and Oberliga (upper league) — below them, the Landesligen (state leagues) run by the state federations.
• Age groups: women D00/D35/D45/D55 and men H00/H35/H45/H55/H60.
• Match day format: each tie consists of 3 doubles (played in the order doubles 3, 2, 1); a team needs at least 6 players per match day. In most divisions the third set is a champions tie-break.
• All players need a DPV license; results are handled via the RankedIn platform.

• Spain: the Federación Española de Pádel organizes national championships — including pairs and club team championships across several categories (padelfederacion.es/Campeonatos).
• Italy: Serie A and Serie B team championships under the tennis and padel federation FITP (fitp.it/Padel).
• Netherlands: Eredivisie Padel as the top team league (with the federation KNLTB).
• Sweden: the Swedish Padel League run by the federation Svensk Padel.

Padel is not (yet) an Olympic sport: it is not on the program for Los Angeles 2028. The FIP is pursuing IOC recognition via the ARISF umbrella body; Brisbane 2032 is considered the earliest realistic chance. One of the hurdles is the IOC’s participation criteria (active competition in 75 countries across 4 continents for men, 40 countries/3 continents for women).
